Papers Presented at ETS, SBL, etc.

This page contains links to papers that I have presented at academic conferences, including the Evangelical Theological Society, Society for Biblical Literature, etc. All are in pdf format.

2009 papers

ETS: Markan Idiolect in the Study of the Greek of the New Testament

SBL: The Function(s) of the Imperfect Tense in Mark's Gospel

2004 papers

ETS: Translation Philosophy and the English Standard Version New Testament (pdf file)

SBL: Biblical Exegetical Software in the Classroom (panel discussion; pdf file & accompanying PowerPoint file)

2001 papers

ETS: "May Evangelicals Dispense with Propositional Revelation? Challenges to a Traditional Evangelical Doctrine" (complete 38-page, dbl.-spaced paper; 8-pg. abridged version--this is the version that was actually read at the conf.)

SBL: "Adapting Technology to Teach Koine Greek" (complete 25-page sg.-spaced paper. Only an oral summary was presented at SBL, along with a demonstration based on PowerPoint slides (in Acrobat format). The slides posted here are static and do not include any of the animations, audio, or video contained in the live presentation. There are also three other PowerPoint files linked to the main one. These illustrate various parts of the paper. They are: Contract Verbs, Verb Morphology, and WebCT overview (also static Acrobat format). [Note: 2 of the Greek fonts did not embed in the main set of slides; I'll fix that and post a revised copy if I ever get time.]

Previous papers

(I'll try to collect previous papers here when I have time. They are all posted somewhere in the NT Resources site.)

These pages use Unicode UTF-8 encoding; most Greek text is now in Unicode format, though some remnants of the older, non-standard Galilee encoding remain. You should not have difficulties viewing this material if you have a relatively current web browser and a font that contains polytonic Greek. Certain disclaimers apply. Please note that I am unable to serve as a Q & A resource. As my schedule permits, I will attempt to answer questions related specifically to my own writings posted on this site, but I cannot answer general Bible or Greek questions from anyone who is curious. Sorry!
